NATCHEZ — Natchez Mayor Butch Brown is joining nearly 200 mayors in Las Vegas this weekend for the annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
Brown said mayors would discuss public policy issues and share ideas during the conference.
“This is all about dialogues between mayors, sharing best practices and relationship building,” he said.
The mayor said he would also be meeting with other mayors to push Natchez’s 2016 tricentennial celebration.
“Hopefully when I get back, I’ll have something to show you that I’ve brought home,” he said.
Brown said this conference is his first time attending as a sitting mayor, but said he was a member during his previous terms as mayor and worked closely with the Conference of Mayors while serving as president of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
Vice President Joe Biden will address the mayors today at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the first day of the four-day conference.
The conference will include several sessions on various topics, including municipal bonds, housing, energy efficiency, infrastructure investment and others.
