NATCHEZ – Services for James Tolbert “J.T.” West, Jr., 27, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Natchez, will be at noon Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. and the Rev. Charles Chandler officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
J.T. was born Sept. 10, 1980, in Natchez, the son of James T. and Sharon West. He was a 1999 graduate of Natchez High School and a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He attended Alcorn State University, University of Toledo and William Carey College.
Mr. West was a member of Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and was a former member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletics and Future Teachers of America.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George F. West Sr.; one aunt, Carlee Lloyd; one uncle, Vernon Harris; and one cousin, Anthony Nelson.
Survivors include his devoted parents; grandparents, Artimese West and Laura Jackson, both of Natchez, and Robert Jackson of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters, Christen L. West, of Natchez, and Brittney D. West of Dallas; two children, Jaylon T. West of Fort Worth, Texas and James T. West III of Vicksburg; six aunts; seven uncles; and a number of cousins, friends and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Gary Harris, Theodric Lloyd, Demetric Dent, Melvin Mitchell, Vernon Harris Jr. and Steven Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and teammates.
