NATCHEZ — After two years of eluding police, a Natchez man was arrested Wednesday for reportedly stealing a broken-down truck and attempting to sell it as scrap metal.

Natchez Detective Jerry Ford said Mack A. Blanton Jr., 35, 40 Saragossa Road, allegedly stole a 1978 Mazda pickup truck from an acquaintance to sell for scrap metal in 2011.

“We knew who it was all along,” Ford said. “We just couldn’t get a hold of him.”

Blanton was being held without bond in the Natchez City Jail.
