FERRIDAY – Services for Bernard “Honey Bunch” Shepard, 82, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Heritage Manor Health and Rehab Center, in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church on Bayou Drive with the Rev. L.B. Oliver officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary Church Cemetery, in Lake St. John, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Shepard was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Ferriday, the son of Jimmy and Amelia Nelson Shepard. He was a retired plumber.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include six daughters, Effie Spinks of Chicago, Rosetta Monroe of Milwaukee, Wisc., Georgia Fleming of Washington, Pa., Melinda Tyler of New Orleans, Pamela Carradine of Plano, Texas, and Mary Jordan of Ferriday; six sons, Jimmy Shepard and Shelly Shepard, both of Vidalia, Robert Hilliard of Carson, Calif., Leroy Hilliard of Natchez, Judge Hilliard of Ferriday and Shaheed Azeez of Ellenwood, Calif.; two brothers, Jake Williams of Nashville and Lee Lewis of Saginaw, Mich.; three sisters, Pinkie Sheppard, Ethel Washington and Elizabeth Williams, all of Ferriday; 33 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Emma Lee Lloyd of Ferriday.
