NATCHEZ – Services for George Rufus Stevens, 58, of Natchez, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stevens was born Jan. 31, 1950, in Adams County, the son of Byron and Louise Evans Stevens. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Stevens of Natchez; one brother, Byron “Allison” Stevens and wife, Wilma, both of Winnsboro, La.; two sisters, Karen L. McRevy, of Gulfport, and Nancy S. Meng of Natchez; four nephews, Mark Stevens, Scott McRevy, Byron Meng and Jason Meng; three nieces, Debra Gravell, Destin McRevy and Sarah Green; seven great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a special close friend, Gary Smith.
Pallbearers will be Gary Smith, George Max Evans, Marcus Evans, Ronnie Cupit, Johnny Norris, John Welborn and Destin McRevy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Stewart, Brad McSwain, Kerry Heard, Mike Malone and Jimmy Thomas.
