Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Thomas Mitchell of Baton Rouge announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Lauren Mitchell, to John Courtney Holleman Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Courtney Holleman Sr. of Natchez.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge and a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., and Tulane School of Social Work in New Orleans.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lane Mitchell of Shreveport, La., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Max Ross of Mangham, La.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge and a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Charles Holleman Jr. of New Iberia, La., and Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Roger Dale of Natchez.

The wedding will be Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Baton Rouge.
