NATCHEZ – Services for Melvin Edgar Jackson, 76, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church, Cranfield Road.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born June 19, 1932, in Hazlehurst, the son of Edgar and Mamie Priest Jackson.
He was preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Perry Jackson; his parents; one son, Melvin Eugene Jackson; and one daughter, Evelyn Jackson.
Survivors include one son, Melvin Louis Jackson and wife, Melissa; two grandchildren, Eve Jackson and Melvin E. Jackson; two stepchildren, Amber Waldrop and Paula Floyd; two great-grandchildren, Summer and Sonny Clifton; one sister, Doris Dodge; three brothers, Carl Jackson and wife, Jane, Alton Jackson and William Jackson and wife, Terry; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
