NATCHEZ —United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou is ready to kick off their 20th annual United Way Golf Scramble on June 6 at the Beau Pre Country Club to start their series of events to raise money for organizations this summer.
Tammy Prince, community development director and event coordinator, said they’re raising money for their 11 agencies including American Red Cross, Adams County 4-H, Catholic Charities Counseling, T.M. Jennings Baseball, the Natchez Falcons Youth Football, Catholic Charities Cope, Adams County Casa, the Senior Citizen Center, Habitat for Humanity, Guardian Shelter and the Guardian Sexual Assault Center.
“We are a non-profit organization, so we don’t use the money,” Prince said. “It goes straight to our 11 agencies.”
Prince said these 11 agencies are to help people of all ages from all over.
“The organizations we fund help the youth, the adults and the seniors in Mississippi and Louisiana,” Prince said. “People from both sides will benefit from this event.”
The golf scramble is one of their many events to come this year.
“We want to raise as much money as we can before getting into our campaign kickoff in August,” she said. “Our kickoff will serve jambalaya to the community.”
Participation is $125 a person, which includes green fees, cart, lunch, cash bar and hors d’oeuvres at the awards reception.
There is also a platinum sponsorship option that cost $700, this option will pay for reception sponsorship, 4-man team entry, hole sponsorship and the entry’s name posted notably at the tournament.
Also available are hole sponsorships for $100 and a $20 ticket for the ball drop. The ball drop is when 100 entries will get a number put on a golf ball and the Adams County Sheriff’s Department will take those balls in a helicopter, hover over a hole and drop all of the balls simultaneously. The number to get the closest to the hole will win a prize to be revealed at the scramble.
There are many more prizes to be won as the first person to get a hole in one will win a 2013 Toyota Camry sponsored by Trace City Toyota along with prizes for the straightest drive.
The scramble will begin at 1 p.m. on June 6 and lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on the event and to register, call 601-442-1081.
