NATCHEZ – Services for Joe “Shosie” Jones, 70, of Sibley, who died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Jones was born June 8, 1938, in Adams County, the son of Joseph Jones and Flora Henyard Jones Ivory. He was formerly employed as a logger with R.W. Delaney Oil and Drilling Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Jones was a Baptist and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Green Jones; one son, Willie James Green and wife, Kathy, both of New Orleans; four daughters, Annie J. Wilson and husband, Arthur, Delores Green and husband, Adolph, and Gloria J. Felton and husband, Frank, all of Sibley, and Elores Brown and the Rev. Edward Brown, both of Natchez; 10 grandchildren,; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Jones and wife, Lillian, both of Jackson; one aunt, Ellen Henyard Ellis of Natchez; one uncle, Allen Jones of Sibley; two brothers-in-law, Joe Green and William James Washington; three sisters-in-law, Marie Washington, Mamie Green and Willie Mae Jackson Jones, all of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
