NATCHEZ – Services for Charlotte Johnson, 78, who died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Visiting Nursing and Hospice Home, in Fort Wayne, Ind., will be noon Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Adams County, the daughter of Joe Pollard Sr. and Charlotte King Pollard. She retired after 38 years of service from the Natchez-Adams County Public School System where she worked in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and enjoyed “good cooking” and swapping recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Johnson Sr.; two brothers, Joe Pollard Jr. and Oliver Pollard; three sisters, Charity Dunbar, Margaret Johnson and Dorothy Adams; and one grandson, Robert West Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Chapman of Fort Wayne, Emma West Dorsey of Denver, Colo., and Rose Johnson of Natchez; two sons, Richard Johnson Jr. and Arthur Johnson, both of Natchez; one brother, Charles Pollard of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mary Little and husband, Zack, both of Columbia, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be family members.
