FAYETTE – Services for Richard “Blue” Green Jr., 48, who died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Mesquite Tree Nursing Center, in Mesquite, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, in Fayette, with the Rev. Isaac Tenner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Green was the only son born to Richard Green Sr. and Cora Margaret Green. He was an employee of Total Transportation of Mississippi. He attended Greenville Avenue Church of Christ, in Dallas, and was a member of the Louisa Street Church of Christ in New Orleans.
Mr. Green enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his only grandson.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother-in-law, Clinton Watkins of New Orleans; and one uncle, Arthur Walker of Fayette.
Survivors include his wife Gail of 24 years; one daughter, Annissia Green and financé, James, and their son, Ivan Kentrell Montgomery, all of Dallas; his father and stepmother, Richard Sr. and Knoxine Green, both of Natchez; his second mother/aunt and father/uncle, Jessie “Nudie” and Henry Smith, both of Natchez; four sisters, Denise Brown and husband, John, Janice Williams, and Karen Hawkins and husband, Eddie, all of Natchez, and Dr. Kathleen Raleigh and husband, Gerald, both of Atlanta; six aunts, Dorothy Walker of Fayette, Artis Leake, Janie Lee Johnson and Beatrice Mitchell, all of Natchez, Carrie Green of California and Gloria Jefferson of Baton Rouge; two uncles, Alonzo “Pete” Green, of Natchez, and George Green of California; a special niece, Alana Williams of New Orleans; one brother-in-law, Namon Watkins and wife, Donna, both of Dallas; five sisters-in-law, Myrtle Breaux and husband, William, Sharon Scott and husband, Jimmy, and Phyllis Dawson, all of Dallas, Cathy White and Lydia Watkins, both of New Orleans; eight nieces and nephews; a number of special cousins, including Fred Ford Jr., Cedric Smith, Ronda Smith, Priscilla Haynes, Pamela Boxley, Shirese Smith, Mena Gibson, Jessica Dean, Keisha Turner, Adrian and Ryan Wood, Alex Turner, Sandra Harris, a number of very special friends, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and two sisters, who were raised with him by their grandparents, Linda Turner and husband, Aaron, both of New Orleans, and Patricia Smith and husband, Willie, both of Natchez.
All of Stampley will feel his loss because Stampley was home. He never forgot that; therefore, mentioning each of you would be endless.
