BROOKHAVEN —Services for William “Bill” Strawbridge, 77, of Brookhaven, who died Friday May 10, 2013 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Meadville, will be 1:00 p.m. today at the Brookhaven Funeral Home Natchez Drive chapel.
Burial will follow at Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven with military honors under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Bill was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Aberdeen, the son of William Clayton and Reba Laverne Williams Strawbridge.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, being awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. After retirement, he worked for Halliburton, the U.S. Postal Service and Southern Rehab. He enjoyed fishing and was well known for the woodworking he has done through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend and brother, Tyson Wayne Strawbridge.
Mr. Strawbridge is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Joan Blaise Strawbridge; two sons, Rick Strawbridge and wife, Dianne, of Meadville and Andy Strawbridge and wife, Kim, of Natchez; two daughters, Jody Upton and husband, Brian, of Natchez and Amy Clark and husband, Paul, of Brookhaven; and grandchildren Blaise and Nicole Strawbridge and their son Hayden, Colton Strawbridge, Kaylee and Brandon Sanders, Drew Strawbridge, Claire Upton and Jonah Clark.
