FERRIDAY – Services for Johnny Walker, 77, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Sept. 22. 2008, at Riverland Medical Center, in Ferriday, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Concordia Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moss Grove Cemetery, in Jonesville, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Walker was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Lismore, La., the son of Lige and Emma Barber Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry and Oscar Walker; and one brother-in-law, Leon Banks.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Gilmore; two sons, Terry Watson and wife, Linda, both of New Orleans, and Joseph Watson Jr. and wife, Soon, both of Little Rock, Ark.; four daughters, Dora Davis and husband, Frederick, both of New Orleans, Gracie Putman and fiancé, Morris Witherspoon, both of Baton Rouge, Beatrice Edmondson and husband, Billy, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Wilma Anderson and husband, Theodore, of Escondido, Calif.; three brothers, Richard Walker of California, Donald R. Walker and wife, Bernadine, both of Donaldsonville, La., and Bill Walker of New Orleans; two sisters, Ruby Walker, of New Orleans, and Martha Burton of Amite, La.; one sister-in-law, Dixie Banks of New Orleans; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
