FERRIDAY — Services for Naumie Cox, 81, a homemaker, who died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with Tom Collins of Lake Charles, La. officiating.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, in Monterey, under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday, both at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cox was born Sept. 5, 1931, the daughter of Douglas Rice and Lessie Lee Powell Rice. She was a loving mother, homemaker and caregiver to her family.
Later in life, Mrs. Cox became a caregiver to others. She loved to cook, entertain and crochet things which she gave away to loved ones as gifts. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will surely be missed.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles H. Burley and Adell Cox; three sisters, Esther Rice, Marion Wall and Selma Workman; and three brothers, James Douglas Rice, C.G. Rice and Temple Rice.
Survivors include one son, Charles Ernest Burley of Haughton, La.; one daughter, Juanita Magee and husband, Walter, of Parhams, La.; one stepdaughter, Rachel Riley and husband, Ron, of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Jared Burley of Parhams and Kyle Burley of Downsville, La.; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle Riley and Eric Riley of Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Chuck Wall, Darren Wall, Relton Sumrall, Tim Sumrall, Ricky Rice and Roger Ashford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Holland and Calvin Magee.
