NATCHEZ – Services for Harriette C. Saunders, 81, of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Cole officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Saunders was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of Clarence and Jessie Ruwersma VanSluis. She was retired from the Natchez Fire Department. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Saunders was blessed with many wonderful friends which included her Sunday school class and Friends Five-0. They enjoyed many wonderful times together. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Jeannie Rollins Porter.
Survivors include one sister, Lorianne McCaleb of Sarasota, Fla.; four children, Wayne Saunders and wife, Shelia, both of Apison, Tenn., Terry Saunders and wife, Maureen “Mo”, both of Vidalia, Jon Clair and wife, Peggy, both of Brandon and Janice Stephens and husband, Scott, both of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Jamie Saunders, Wendy Jenkins, Melissa Hebert and husband, Nicholas, Jason Rollins, Bradford Rollins, Ryan Stephens, Amelia Stephens, Christina Stephens, Molly Saunders, Lane Arnold and husband, Jared, and Erin Saunders; five great-grandchildren, Peyton Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins, Hilary Saunders, Devin Hebert and Chloe Hebert.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Children Hospital.
