DEVILLE, La., — Funeral services for Laverne Cox, 82, of Deville, who died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, will be at 1 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville with the Rev. Michael Williamson officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetary in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cox was born February 27, 1926 in Trout, La. to William Vernon Masters and Nellie Mitchell Masters.

She is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Denzil Lynn Cox,; one son, ADell Cox; one sister, Viva Chevallier; three brothers, Oca Masters, Millard Masters and Alvin Masters.

She is survived by three daughters, Carole Cox Gisler of Deville, Vonnic Cox Spinks of Jonesville and Rachel Cox Riley and husband Ron, both of Baton Rogue; one sister, Christine Gentry of Loranger, La.; one brother, Lavell Masters; and seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Toussaint, Greg Spinks, Eric Riley, Casey Ryan, Brady Watts and Ethan Trisler.
