NATCHEZ — Services for Margaret Alexander Davis, 81, of Natchez, who died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at LaGrange Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Cain officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Davis was born April 23, 1932, in Adams County, the daughter of Frank Alexander and Alma Roland Alexander. She was a member of LaGrange Baptist Church and served as an usher.
Mrs. Davis was educated in the Natchez-Adams public schools and was a graduate of Tougaloo College. She was an educator and taught in Meridian, Gloster and Adams County public schools system for more than 25 years. She also coached basketball for both Holy Family High School and Martin Junior High.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Alexander; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Irene Davis; one uncle, Marshall Hamilton; and three brothers-in-law, Roy, Jessie and Ferguson Davis.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Willie James Davis; four children, Barbara Jeanette Thompson of Natchez, Dr. Richard Brooks and fiancée, Toni Haynes, of Texas, Adrian James Davis and Carlton Thomas Davis; seven grandchildren, Carlos Yates, Richard Brooks III, Stephine L. Thompson, Adrian J. Davis Jr., Carlton T. Davis Jr., Michael Thompson and Alexis Davis; a number of great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Debra Hannon and Albert Washington; and a number of extended family, other relatives and friends.
