BUDE — A McCall Creek man died Thursday morning after allegedly being shot by a Roxie man at a Bude gas station.

Franklin County Sheriff James Newman said deputies responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 5:20 a.m. at a gas station at the intersection of Mississippi 154 and U.S. 98 in Bude.

James William Wallace, 54, of Roxie, allegedly shot and killed Bruce Anthony Lofton, 49, of McCall Creek, with a small caliber handgun, Newman said.

Christopher Alan Shell, 45, was also shot in the arm, but is expected to live, Newman said.

Newman said deputies arrested Wallace without incident at the gas station and that the shooting is still under investigation.

“It was a lone act,” Newman said. “I feel comfortable saying we’ll probably charge him with murder and aggravated assault.”
