RAYMOND — Services for Wallace McCager Wall, 83, of Raymond, who died Monday, April 29, 2013, will be at 10 a.m. today at Raymond United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Sahler officiating.
Burial will follow at the Raymond Cemetery under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home.
Mr. Wall was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Newton County, the son of McCager Bower “Dock” Wall and Mary Horne Wall. He was a graduate of Newton High School, East Central Junior College and Mississippi State University.
Mr. Wall received a master’s degree from Mississippi State University and taught engineering graphics at Hinds Junior College. While at Hinds, he was the sponsor of the Engineering Club and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He introduced the curriculum of technical education at Hinds Junior College.
In 1974, Mr. Wall was named the assistant engineer for the Hinds County Road Department. He was very successful in completing a number of federal and state aid projects for Hinds County. In fact, a number of bridges and roads in Hinds County today are his designs.
Mr. Wall was a longtime member of the Raymond United Methodist Church. He served as chairperson of the finance committee; The Men’s Club, The Board of Trustees and taught Sunday school. He was an avid hunter and gardener.
Mr. Wall was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Evelyn Wall Myers; two brothers, Pat and Dock Wall; and one son-in-law, Dale Owens.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Edith Gary Wall; one son, Kendall Wall of Pinehurst, N.C.; one daughter, Kay Wall Owens of Arlington, Texas; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
