VIDALIA — Services for Willie Mays Sr., 90, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Dixon officiating.

Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Vidalia under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Mays was born April 3, 1923, in Vidalia, the son of Dan Mays Sr. and Caléna Henderson Mays. He was a farmer.

Mr. Mays was a Mason with the Pride of Vidalia Lodge No. 106.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Mays and three children

Survivors include 10 sons, Andrews Webster and wife, Maryland, of Bridge City, La., Taft Webster and wife, Brenda, of Lafayette, La., Harold Webster and wife, Sharon, Roosevelt Mays and wife, Sandra, Wilford Mays and wife, Miranda, Freddie Mays and wife, Phronel, all of Ferriday, Nathaniel Mays and wife, Barbara, Charles Mays and wife, Diane, John E. Mays and Louis Mays, all of Sacramento, Calif.; five daughters, Diane Mays, Priscilla Lyles, both of Ferriday, Ruth Hester and husband, Billy, Joyce Allen and husband, Jimmy, and Odesta Mays, all of Sacramento; 83 grandchildren; 163 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Lee Hagans of Ferriday; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Mays, Leola Webster, both of Vidalia, and Maggie Webster of Sicily Island; one brother-in-law, Percy Johnson and wife, Catherine, of Natchez; and one adopted godchild, Ja’Laya Kelly of Vidalia.
