NATCHEZ — As the holiday season draws near, so does the unmistakable jingle of a Salvation Army bell.
Bell ringers are needed for six Miss-Lou locations beginning Nov. 27, Salvation Army Field Manager Suzzette McMillan said.
Bell ringers will be stationed outside the Natchez and Vidalia Walmarts, Natchez Market No. 1 and No. 2, Kmart and Natchez Mall from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 27-Dec. 24.
Applications can be picked up and submitted to the Win Job Center, 107 Col. John Pitchford Parkway., or the Salvation Army Thrift Store, 513 N. Canal St. McMillan, who picks up the applications on a weekly basis, said bell ringers must be at least 18 years old.
“You must be able to stand for a long period of time, be able to work outside, be able to follow instructions and work with limited supervision,” McMillan said.
Though 10 bell ringers will be paid minimum wage, the Salvation Army needs volunteer bell ringers as well.
“Bell ringing season is our largest and only fundraiser of the year, so therefore the money we make during bell ringing season is the money we put back into the community,” McMillan said.
