LAFAYETTE, La. – Services for Dora Ann Beard, 67, of Lafayette, La., who died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Delhomme Chapel of Flowers with the Rev. Mike Walker, pastor or East Bayou Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Beard was the daughter of Columbus Douglas and Alma Pipkins Douglas. She was an active member of East Bayou Baptist Church where she worked with the pre-school and the prayer ministry.
She took great joy in spending time and surrounding herself with her grandchildren. She was an inspiration to many affected by cancer. She was an avid bluegrass music fan and volunteered at many festivals. Ann enjoyed spending time with her dear friends and valued their friendship. Gardening was a favorite pastime of Ann’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Maurice L. Beard; two daughters, Sylvia Diane Roy and husband, Danny, and Stephanie L. Ware and husband, Andy; five grandchildren, Destri, Evan, Sadie, Isabel and Isaac; two sisters, Marie Arnold and Virginia Browder; and one brother, Ronny Douglas, all of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Andy Ware, Danny Roy, Ronny Douglas, Jim Andre, Richardo Johnson and Frank Chapman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Powell and Steve Stockton.
