CROWLEY, La – Services for William LeRoy “Bill” Hoffpauer, 76, of Crowley, who died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, after a long illness following heart surgery, will be at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, in Crowley, with the Rev. Charles Floyd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Old Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Hoffpauer was born May 24, 1932, in Crowley, the son of Sterling Clark and Dorothy Milliken Hoffpauer. He was a graduate of Crowley High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from ULL, formerly SLI. He served his country as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former member of the Crowley Town Club, past president of the Retarded Children’s Association and participated in the founding of Southwest State School in Iota.
Mr. Hoffpauer was a past president of the United Braford Breeders Association, past member of the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association, the Louisiana Paint Horse Association, the Quarter Horse Association, Lyons Club, Rice Belt Board of Realtors, Crowley Chamber of Commerce and a present member of the First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men’s Club. He was vice president at First National Bank and Louisiana Bank in Crowley. He was the owner/operator of Landry-Hoffpauer Insurance and Real Estate Company and a real estate broker and owner/operator of Bill Hoffpauer Realty. He was an active land developer in Acadia Parish and restorer of historic homes, winning three awards for renovations in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Clark Hoffpauer and Clark Milliken Hoffpauer; and one grandchild, Neil Alexander Frugé.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Katherine DuBus Hoffpauer; two daughters, Katherine Hoffpauer Frugé and husband, Philip, and Diana Hoffpauer Heinen, all of Crowley; two sons, Monte William Hoffpauer of Eunice, La. and Kevin Craig Hoffpauer and wife, Sandra, both of Crowley; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Philip Frugé, David Hoffpauer, Dusty Hoffpauer, Andy Rider, Robert Lowry and Kane Fontenot.
The family requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church and the Retarded Children’s Association.
