BATON ROUGE (AP) — A 58-year-old Vidalia man has pleaded guilty to his role in the illegal discharges of pollutants into state waters in Cameron Parish.

Carr William Brown, a field technician for T&F Oil, a Mandeville-based company owned by his brother, Lobdell Brown, entered the plea Tuesday in state district court. Brown and Lobdell Brown were indicted in October 2011 on charges stemming from illegal discharges of oil and chlorides into state waters.

Carr Brown was sentenced to three years of probation and fined $5,000.

In December, Lobdell Brown also received probation and was ordered to pay $11,080 to the state Department of Environmental Quality Trust fund to cover the cost of the investigation.

Lobdell Brown must also pay a criminal fine and restitution to be determined in a pending companion civil case.
