CROSBY — Services for Mae Bell Griffin, 78, who died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Garden City, with the Rev. Frank Jenkins officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Matthews Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin was born Aug. 26, 1930, the daughter of Herbert and Florence Alexander.
She was a longtime business owner in Crosby, an alderwoman for the city and vice-president of the Finch Elementary School PTA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five sisters, Pinkie Cooper, Gertrude Anderson, Annette Alexander, Vivian Alexander and Betty J. Slack.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Griffin, of Centreville; six sons, Warren Shell, of Nashville, David Bruce Alexander, Albert A. Griffin, both of Crosby, Michael Griffin, Stanley Griffin, both of Chicago, and Everette Clark Griffin, of Jackson; two sisters, Willie Sue Reynolds and Rosie M. Alexander, both of Biloxi; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four nieces, eight nephews; and a number of cousins, friends and relatives.
Arrangements will be handled by Anderson Funeral Home.
