FAYETTE — Services for Lucielle Johnson Gray, 49, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Tillman officiating.
Burial will follow at Adams Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Gray was born June 16, 1959, in Prentiss, the youngest of six children to Samuel and Maple Lowe Johnson. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shorts Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Bassfield. She later became a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church in Fayette where she served on the usher board and was a faithful member until her death.
Mrs. Gray received her childhood education in the Jefferson Davis County School District and was a graduate of Bassfield High School. She was also a graduate of Alcorn State University where she received a bachelor of science degree in health science and a master of science degree in physical education and counseling. She began her career at Alcorn State University and later worked at Southwest Mississippi Mental Health Center in Port Gibson. She was employed with Catholic Charities in Natchez as a social worker at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lionel Hampton Gray; one brother, Richard Johnson; and one sister, Grace Johnson Booth.
Survivors include one son, Dorian Lionel Gray of Fayette; four stepsons, Damien Gray and Shay Davis, both of Port Gibson, Dezimond Gray and wife, Lisa, both of Pascagoula, Gregory Wright and wife, Kiersten “Kit,” both of Vicksburg, and Kendrick Wright and wife, Helen, both of Fayette; two sisters, Earnestine Hall and husband, Rafus, both of Mount Olive, and Mildred “Granny” Johnson of Vicksburg; one brother, Leroy Johnson and wife, Betty, both of Vicksburg; two uncles, the Rev. Sammy Lowe and wife, Cozetta, both of Sumrall and the Rev. Otha Johnson of Bassfield; one aunt, Ora Lee Buford of Chicago; four special sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson of Vicksburg, Andrea Gray of Fayette, Theresa Gray and Christine Anderson and husband, Tyrone, all of St. Louis, Mo.; godparents, Tom Ballard and wife, Frances, both of Lorman; godson, Brandon Queen of Fayette; special friend, Patricia Walker of Fayette; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
