HARRISTON — Services for Robert Ray “Bobby” Sanders, 78, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Fayette Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurie Rayborn officiating.
Burial will follow at Fayette City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Sanders was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Hinds County, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Susie Davis Sanders. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Sanders was a retired rural mail carrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, T.J. Sanders; one half sister, Margie Shelton; one nephew, Larry Sanders; one brother-in-law, Bilbo Moffett; and one great-nephew, Michael Wilson.
Survivors include two brothers, Eugene Sanders and wife, Elise, both of Harriston and Joe Sanders and wife, Linda Sue, both of McNair; four sisters, Hilda Burns and husband, Donald, both of Columbus, Bonnie Moffett of Harriston, Rita Beesley and husband, Bennie, both of Fayette; and Susie Harrigill and husband, Claude, both of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Bettie Rae Sanders of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Burns, Glenn Burns, Tommy Sanders, Jimmy Moffett, Terry Moffett, Joey Moffett, John Moffett and Patrick Sanders.
