BATON ROUGE— Complementing a Louisiana State Police trooper on his uniform isn’t likely to get you out of a speeding ticket, because they already know their uniforms are the best in the nation.
The North American Association of Uniform Manufactures and Distributors gave the state police the recognition of best-dressed agency in the country Friday for the second time.
The organization, which represents uniform manufactures, designers, producers and retailers, has been giving the award for 36 years. Participants have to submit photographs depicting their department’s uniforms.
“The Louisiana State Police has always taken great pride in the uniform that we wear as it presents our commitment to the citizens of Louisiana to whom we serve,” said Col. Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. “The Louisiana Trooper uniform continues to be one of the most recognizable in the country with its color scheme and our state clearly represented through the shape of the badge and patches.”
The state police has worn several uniform variations in its 76 year history. The current uniform was adopted in 1973.
