NATCHEZ — Services for John Albert “Koo-Lou” Franklin, 57, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon Saturday at Zion Flower Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Alexander officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Franklin was born March 31, 1951, in Natchez, the son of James Franklin and Clara Ware Franklin. He attended Adams County Public Schools and was a member of Zion Flower Baptist Church. He was also a member of Pearl Leaf Society, L.F. and C. Society. Mr. Franklin served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. He was employed by Feltus Brothers and Fidelity Tire Company.
He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Thelma Belton; one brother, Jessie Sylvester; and his grandparents.
Survivors include his mother; one daughter, Christie Franklin, both of Natchez; two sons, Christopher Doss of Fayette and John Kelvin Franklin of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Dorothy Minor and husband, Willie, both of Natchez, and Josephine Franklin of Jackson; one brother, Larry Franklin of Natchez; one grandson, Jaylen Franklin of Reno; one godson, Marquis Devonté Jackson of Natchez; three uncles, Ed Ware and wife, Daisy, Bowser Ware Sr. and wife, Isabelle, and the Rev. Monroe Ware and wife, Sarah Ann, all of Natchez; three aunts, Mary Stanton, Alberta Selmon and Isabelle Gibson, all of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
