NATCHEZ — Heavy rain over the past two days put a damper on Thursday’s schedule of area prep baseball and softball games — all of which were district or region games.
Cathedral’s MHSAA Region 7-1A softball game at Bogue Chitto was rained out and postponed until 6 p.m. Monday.
The inclement weather forced both Vidalia and Block’s baseball teams to do some shuffling of not only their district games, but their game with each other. The Vikings’ home game against LHSAA District 3-3A opponent Jena wasrescheduled for 6 p.m. today. The Bears’ home game against District 4-1A rival St. Mary’s will be at 4 p.m. today.
Block’s home game against Vidalia that was scheduled for today will now be at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Vidalia’s home softball game against District 3-3A rival Avoyelles was rained out and will take place at either 4 or 5 p.m today.
Block’s varsity softball game at home against St. Mary’s in a District 4-1A game was also postponed because of the rainy weather. Lady Bears head coach Robert Swayze said early Thursday afternoon if the rain goes away, there’s a good chance the game will be rescheduled for 4 p.m. today.
