NATCHEZ — Natchez-Adams County Metro Narcotics arrested an eight-time offender earlier this week in what Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield called a “major step” in curtailing the sale of marijuana in Adams County.
Jameson Rogers, 32, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and sale of a schedule I substance within 1,500 feet of a church Tuesday.
The arrest followed the service of a search warrant at 31-B Graves Ave., where Metro agents and Adams County sheriff’s deputies reportedly found 26.5 ounces of marijuana sorted into bags by the pound, ounce and gram, packing materials, a .380-cal. semi-automatic handgun and $495 in suspected drug money, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
Drugs were also reportedly found hidden in a vehicle outside the residence.
The drugs were valued at between $4,000 and $5,000, and Mayfield said they represented approximately a week’s worth of work for Rogers.
The suspect was released on a $20,000 bond.
Rogers’ previous arrests include drug charges, dog fighting, malicious mischief and DUI, the sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
