FAYETTE — Services for Helen Willie Brown Guedon, 92, of Jefferson County, who died Thursday, March 28, 2013, following an illness she had struggled with for the last few years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Community Methodist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Arron Lamb officiating.

Burial will follow at the Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Church Funeral Services in Saint Amant, La .

Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Guedon was born July 12, 1920, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Lynn Wood Brown and Willie Geoghegan Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County.

Mrs. Guedon had a number of interests such as reading, knitting and crocheting, working crossword puzzles in the daily newspaper and playing cards with the family. She played the piano for friends and family and The Community Methodist Church, working with the choir and teaching student piano.

When she was able, she loved to travel with Aunt Helen, Uncle Lucien Bullen and Elodie Geoghegan. She also loved visiting with family and friends and especially loved cooking for them around the holidays.

Mrs. Guedon was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lynn Wood Brown Jr., Harry Geoghegan Brown and Joseph Bullen Brown; one sister, Catherine Marie Richards; and her husband, Carlton Lamar Guedon Sr.

Survivors include one son, Carlton Lamar Guedon Jr. and wife, Nettie Scott Guedon, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Helen Marlene Guedon Southerland and husband, Paul, of Lorman; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Guedon of Baton Rouge, Chaucie Leigh Guedon Goldrat and husband, Guy, of Pensacola, Fla., Robin Southerland Brown and husband, Jeff, of Ventress, La., Hannah Belle Southerland and Leslie Paul Southerland Jr. and wife, Quinn, all of Lorman; one great-grandchild, Ryder Southerland of Lorman; and a number of cousins, nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Guedon, Donnie Geoghegan, Dusty Brown, Ricky Brown, Les Southerland, Randy Arnold, Lamar Bullen and John Mac Richards.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Ward, Bob Guedon, Lucien Bullen, George Bates, Donald Geoghegan and Stowers George Scott.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Community Methodist Church, Fayette Cemetery Association in Fayette, Deaconess Home Health and Hospice of Natchez and Brookhaven and The Hospice of Baton Rouge.
