Prep softball roundup: Rodgers throws no-hitter

MARKSVILLE, La. — Taylor Rodgers threw a no-hitter and Vidalia collected 17 hits as the Lady Vikings rolled to a 25-0 win over the Marksville Lady Tigers in three innings Monday afternoon in LHSAA District 3-3A action.
Rodgers went all three innings and struck out seven batters, walked one and hit one batter. Marksville starting pitcher Haile Brouillette had her struggles on the mound and ended up allowing 25 runs, 22 of them earned, walked 10 batters and hit four batters.
The Lady Vikings scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning, 10 in the top of the second and four in the top of the third. Mallory Wheeler went 2-for-2 with a triple and four runs batted in. Katelin Temple was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Savannah McCarver was 1-for-3 with a double and four RBIs thanks to a pair of bases-loaded walks.
Vidalia (14-7-1, 3-4) will play Thursday at 4 p.m. in a critical district game at home against Jena.
