NATCHEZ — Services for James Albert “Sonny” Washington, 62, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Washington was born April 14, 1946, in Natchez, the son of Johnny and Dorothy Washington Drake. He was a 1965 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School. During his illness, he joined Pilgrim Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Selesia W. Davis and husband, Stafon; three grandchildren, Devan, Ei’dena and Kyle; two great-grandchildren, all of Charlotte, N.C.; four brothers, Johnny Drake and wife, Shelia, both of Mitchellville, Md., Theodore Drake and wife, Genell, both of Atlanta, Frederick Drake and wife, Tasa, both of Houston, Texas and George Drake and wife, Gena, both of Tampa, Fla.; four sisters, Patricia D. Chaney and husband, Garnett, and Laura Drake and companion, Isaac, all of Natchez, Joanette Drake of Las Vegas and Linda Drake of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Garnett Chaney Sr., Garnett Chaney Jr., Darrell Chaney, Isaac M. King, Jeremy Green and Ray Sims.
