ST. JOSEPH, La. — Funeral services for Joseph Lee Simpson, 23, of St. Joseph, who died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Daylon Hicks and the Rev. Larry Foster officiating.
Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home.
Joseph was born July 15, 1985, in Natchez to Karen Moseley and Scotty Simpson. He was a resident of St. Joseph and graduated from Florence High School in Florence in 2003. He played soccer and baseball in school. Upon graduation, he worked as a land surveyor in Mississippi.
He moved to St. Joseph to begin farming with his grandfather Estel Simpson in 2004. Joseph loved to hunt and farm. He always made time for his family and friends. His loveable personality touched the hearts of everyone around him. He always made everyone laugh, and he was always there when anyone needed him. He will be loved and missed by all.
Survivors include his father, Scotty Simpson of St. Joseph, mother Karen Moseley and stepfather, Trey, of Braxton; two sisters, Amanda Simpson of Baton Rouge and Hannah Arnold of Braxton; one step-brother, Niles Moseley of Brandon; four grandparents, Winfred and Amanda Mize of St. Joseph and Estel and Sue Simpson of St. Joseph; two great-grandmothers, Mary Murphy of St. Joseph and Marjorie Simpson of Leachville, Ark.; six uncles, Danny Mize and wife Angie, of Paducah, Ky., Jason Mize and wife Amy, of Madison, Davy Mize of St. Joseph, Hank Rabb and wife Patty, of St. Joseph and Brian Simpson and wife Karri, of Natchez; six cousins, Alyssa and Danny Michael Mize of Paducah, Ky., Jackson, Samuel and Parker Mize, of Madison, Emily Rabb of St. Joseph and Wesley Simpson of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Randall Borsch, Ryan Borsch, Chad Gregory, John Lamar Rhodes, Matt Vincent and Jim White. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Hill and John Russell.
Memorial donations may be made to Tensas Academy in St. Joseph.
