LENA, La. — The Block Bears were just three outs away from getting their first LHSAA District 4-1A win of the season.
But Northwood-Lena had other ideas as it rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 7-6 win Thursday afternoon.
Block scored four runs in the top of the first inning, but Northwood-Lena answered with one run in the bottom of the first and two runs in the bottom of the second to trail just 4-3. It appeared that the Bears had retaken control of the game after scoring one run in the top of the fifth inning and one run in the top of the sixth to go ahead 6-3.
Unfortunately for the Bears, things came apart in the bottom of the seventh. In just two-thirds of an inning on the mound, Trent Coldiron walked three batters, allowed one hit, and gave up four runs — none of them earned because of several errors.
Jacob Harden went 2-for-5 and Austin Danzy had a double to lead the Bears at the plate.
Block (6-7, 0-2) has a varsity doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m. Monday at Peabody.
