Gloster — Services for Ruth Inez Turner Havard, 86, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Summit, will be at noon Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster with the Rev. David O’Conner officiating.
Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. Havard was born March 13, 1922, in Crosby, the daughter of Herbert S. Turner and Claudia Mae Turner.
She was a native of Crosby, where she graduated from Crosby High School in 1940.
She has been a resident of Natchez for the last 63 years.
Mrs. Havard worked for The Natchez Democrat and City Bank and Trust. She owned and operated the Embers Restaurant, she operated the Prentiss Hotel Restaurant and she worked for the Natchez Pilgrimage.
Mrs. Havard retired from housekeeping at the Ramada Inn at age 83.
She was a member of St. Mary Basilica Church.
Mrs. Havard was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Homer B. Turner and Herbert “Shot” Turner; and one sister, Martha Turner McNeil.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Turner Havard Sr. and wife, Delores, of Brookhaven; one daughter, Connie Havard Nettles and husband, Bill, of Summit; two sisters, Mary Turner Hermon, of Sacremento, Calif, and Patricia Turner Robert and husband, Jimmy C., of McComb; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Scott Havard, Ronald Turner Havard Jr., John Wayne Havard, David Clayton Poole Jr., Barclay Alan Poole, William C. Nettles Jr., Todd C. Nettles and Lance A. Nettles.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy McNeil, Jimmy C. Robertson, Chip Robertson, Shawn Dauzat and Jeff Daughdrill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Community Hospice.
