RAYVILLE, La. — Trinity Episcopal’s varsity baseball team finally picked up their first win of the 2013 season as the Saints defeated the Riverfield Academy Raiders 10-6 Monday night.

“It’s a relief. We finally put a full game together,” Trinity head coach Kyle Ketchings said.

Sky Logan was the winning pitcher after he came on in relief for starting pitcher Jesse Cable and allowed one run on just one hit with three strikeouts in three and one-third innings. He also walked two and hit two batters. Cable gave up five runs on five hits in three and two-thirds innings.

Trinity’s bats did a number on Riverfield’s pitchers. The Saints pounded out 13 hits in the game, including a triple by Cable and a key three-run double by Jared Hedrick in the top of the seventh inning after losing pitcher Chase Eppenette intentionally walked two straight batters to load the bases.

Both Cable and Hedrick went 2-for-5 at the plate. Quinton Logan was 2-for-2 with a double, Sky Logan went 2-for-4 with a double and Wyatt Boothe was 3-for-5.

And the Saints’ defense was solid as they committed just one error — the fewest they have committed so far this season.

“We didn’t walk too many batters, we hit the ball and we didn’t make any errors,” Ketchings said. “I know the kids are excited about the first win and hopefully this will lead to more wins.”

Trinity Episcopal (1-5) doesn’t play again until Monday when the Saints travel to Amite, La., to take on Oak Forest Academy at 6:30 p.m.
