NATCHEZ — Services for Donnis R. Tisdale, 77, of Gulfport, formerly of Meadville, who died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in Gulfport, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Emery May officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Tisdale was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Laurel, the son of Albert Claude and Ethel Easterling Tisdale. He was a faithful member of Meadville Baptist Church.
Mr. Tisdale was a U.S. Army Korean veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Korean Service Metal. He was a Master Mason, past patron of Order of the Eastern Star and past president of the Steamboat Sam’s Camping Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert Marshall and Larry Tisdale; one granddaughter, Lacy Scarborough Stampley.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Avis Tisdale of Meadville; four daughters, Shelly Scarborough and husband, Irwin, both of Gulfport, Jackie Cain and husband, Wayne, both of Gallatin, Tenn., Susan Gardner and husband, Floyd, both of Vidalia, and Rita Brewer and husband, Eddie, both of Ocean Springs; six grandchildren, Nicki Quintini and husband, James, Michael Cain and wife, Teresa, Brandon Cain and wife, Sara, Ariel Gardner, Alesia Brewer and Jordan Brewer; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Quintini, Nicholas Quintini, Logan Cain, Henry Cain and Addison Lucas; two sisters, Clarice Lott and Maurice Tyree; and two brothers, Hoel Tisdale and Billy Tisdale.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Godbold, Bobby Kelly, brother-in-law, Phillip Walley, grandsons, Michael Cain, Brandon Cain, Jordan Brewer and James Quintini.
