NATCHEZ — Services for Clarissa Gladys Ware-Holmes, 81, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Skinner Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Holmes was born July 25, 1927, in Adams County, the daughter of Cunnie Ware and Maude Miller-Clark and Sgt. Willie C. Clark. She attended Natchez public schools and was a retired business woman. She was a faithful church member, a member of the missionary society and a former choir member.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Clara Ware, Mattie Ware-Singleton and Jessie Ware McGruder; and one daughter, Maudece E. Campbell.
Survivors include six loving children, Alfreda Nealy, Faye Barnes and Larry Holmes and wife, Brenda, all of Natchez, Lionel Barnes and wife, Kathy, both of Virginia, Joane Ware-Richardson and Alvin K. Barnes, both of Atlanta; one brother, James Ware and wife, Ruby; one sister-in-law, Myles Ware-McGruder; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Xavier Nealy, Brad Ware, Christopher Barnes, Joseph Campbell, James Campbell Jr. and Kenny Barnes Jr.
