NATCHEZ — Services for Nathaniel “Yankie” Childs, 80, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.
Burial will follow at the Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Childs was born April 4, 1932, in Adams County, the son of John Childs and Daphinie Childs. His employment included L.J. Denny, Passbach Meats, Inc., Natchez Sanitation Department and the Stewpot. He was also a farmer for the James Boyd family for a number of years.
Mr. Childs was a member of New Zion Baptist Church No. 1.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Tucker and husband, Archie Jr., and Ludessa Bradley, both of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, Maybelle Johnson of Natchez; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and friends.
