Weather washes out games

NATCHEZ — The severe thunderstorms and heavy rain that came through the Miss-Lou Monday afternoon have forced several local teams to postpone their baseball and softball games.
Trinity Episcopal’s season-opening game against Oak Forest Academy was rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Saints will now start their season today on the road at Centreville Academy with the junior varsity game at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Cathedral’s JV and varsity games at Porter’s Chapel Academy were postponed. Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said he didn’t know when the games will be made up. Cathedral will be at home today against Wilkinson County Christian Academy with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.
Franklin County’s junior varsity and varsity games at North Pike were canceled because of the inclement weather. Franklin County hosts its baseball tournament beginning Thursday.
Monterey’s varsity baseball game at Montgomery was postponed and rescheduled for 4 p.m. today.
Block’s varsity and eighth-grade games at Harrisonburg were also rained out. The eighth-grade game was canceled and the varsity game will take place at 5 p.m. today.
Franklin County’s junior varsity and varsity softball games at home and on the road against McComb was rescheduled. Franklin County’s home games against the Lady Tigers will take place next Tuesday with the JV game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m. Because of that change in the schedule, the Lady Bulldogs’ road games against McComb will now take place this Friday with the JV game at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Monterey’s home opener against Georgetown was canceled for the second time in four days because of the bad weather. Lady Wolves head coach Kayla Shirley said she doesn’t know if the varsity game will be rescheduled.
Monterey next plays at Block at 4 p.m. today with the varsity game to start, followed by the junior varsity game.
