MERIDIAN — Adams County Christian School hung in with soccer powerhouse Lamar School for much of Wednesday’s second round playoff game.

But the lack of offense for the Rebels ended up biting them as Lamar tacked on a couple of late goals to win 4-0 and eliminate ACCS from the playoffs.

“My guys gave me 100 percent today,” ACCS head coach Jim Allgood said. “For us to be down 1-0 going into halftime playing against Lamar is something to be proud of. I am very proud of our guys for putting up such a great defensive attack.”

The Rebels were within striking distance, down 2-0, with 18 minutes to go in the contest, before Lamar netted two late goals to turn the tight game into a blowout.

“(Leading scorer) Lester Wells is still nursing a slight knee injury, and that naturally affected our offensive attack,” Allgood said.

Rebel goalkeeper Zach Pintard played a great game to keep the Rebels alive, Allgood said.

“Kudos to my goalie,” he said. “He had some ESPN worthy, goal-saving plays today.”

The loss ended the Rebels’ season, but this year’s team was the best in school history, Allgood said.

“This team has a passion and love for the game,” he said. “I hate that I’m going to be losing three seniors, but senior William Ladner said after the game, ‘Guys, you better get a ring next year.’

“I’m very excited and already looking forward to next year.”

ACCS finished its season with a record of 18-5-1.
