NATCHEZ — Services for Marjorie Louise Hauer Washington, 71, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Hope Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Washington was born Dec. 11, 1941, in Jackson Point, the daughter of John and Laura Williams Hauer.
Marjorie Louise Hauer Washington was the oldest of 13 children. She was called and baptized early in life by the Rev. Leon Bell, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church in Jackson Point. After marrying her soul mate George Washington in 1966, she moved her membership to Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Natchez where she attended and worshiped until her health would no longer allow her to attend.
Marjorie was a wonderful mother and was dearly loved by her children, Rita, Larry, Jacqueline, Penny, Stacey and Tracey. Her sisters and brothers often lavished her with love because she was “Ms. Margie.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Eileen Hauer and Lillie Marie Washington; two brothers, Lawrence “Peanut” Hauer and Clarence Hauer; and father and mother-in-law, Matt and Gertrude Washington.
Survivors include six children, Rita Hauer-Hayes, Larry D. Hauer and wife, Maureen, Jacqueline Pons, Penny Washington, Stacey Washington and Tracey Marsaw; 13 sisters, Natalie Hauer, Ceola Lockey and husband, Julius, Shirley Riley and husband, Paul, Viola Francis, Dorothy Smith and husband, Darnese, Bobbie Jean Eldridge and husband, Wilton, Rosemary Lomax, Bobbie Knight and husband, David, Esther Ruth Poole, Jeanette King and husband, Eddie, Patricia Stegall and husband, Willie, Bobbie Ann Harris and husband, Ray, and Deloris Conner; five brothers, Charles Hauer and wife, Yolanda, Michelle Hauer, John B. Hauer Jr. and wife, Sheener, James Poole and wife, Audrey, and Larry J. Hauer; one uncle, John Cotton; two aunts, Helen Whitehead and Janice Cotton; in-laws, Michael Washington and Carl Washington and wife, ReNetta, Estelle Fleming, Martha Williams and husband, Robert, Judy Davis, Betty Sago and husband, Monroe, Harriet Green and husband, Donald, Lynelle Major and husband, Joe, and Mary Davis; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of other special relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
