VICKSBURG — Services for Joseph Jesse “Joe” Walley, 56, of Vicksburg, who died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating.
Burial will follow at Kingston Community Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Homes, Inc., in Vicksburg.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Walley was a native of Laurel and grew up in Vicksburg. For many years he served as a deputy for the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and later was employed by Riverside Construction Company. Most recently, he was employed by Ergon Maintenance.
Mr. Walley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nollie Walley and Ouida Busby Walley; two brothers, James Walley and Jerry Walley; and one sister, Mary Walley Simmons.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Shiers Walley; one son, Sean Douglas Walley; one daughter, Jessica Walley Haas and husband, Karl; one brother, Don Walley; two sisters, Brenda Dawkins and husband, Fairley, all of Vicksburg, and Betty Tarver and husband, George, of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Holifield, Fairley Dawkins, George Tarver, Louis Miller Jr., R.L. Munn and Dane Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and members of Ergon Maintenance.
