NATCHEZ — Services for John Wesley Granger, 83, of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church No. 2 with the Rev. Willie R. Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Granger was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Wilkinson County, the son of Herold Granger and Frankie S. Granger. He attended Wilkinson County Public School and was retired from International Paper Company. Mr. Granger was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church No. 2 and served as a deacon. He enjoyed singing, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music and sermons by the Rev. C.L. Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Herold Jr., Willie and George Granger; two sisters, Mary Eliza Granger and Lucinda Granger Foster.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Granger and wife, Bernice, of Dallas and Gregory Granger; four brothers, James Granger and wife, Mamie, Arthur Granger, Peter Granger and wife, Margaret, and David Granger Sr. and wife, Mary, all of Natchez; two sisters, Margaret Granger Richardson and Minnie Granger Bell, both of Natchez; two grandchildren, Simekia Granger and Ashley Raghubansh and husband, Biki, all of Dallas; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
