UNION CHURCH — Services for Celia Ann Gibson Young, 96, of Union Church, who died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by family, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Block United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.
Mrs. Young was born Nov. 6, 1912, the daughter of Isaiah Gibson and Lou Whalum- Gibson. She was a longtime member of Hickory Block United Methodist Church and served as the church treasurer and was a member of the United Methodist Mission Society until her health failed. She placed the needs of others above her own and her unwavering faith was an inspiration to family and friends.
Celia’s primary focus in life was her family and she, in every way, was its foundation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Baker Young; one sister, Louisa Gibson Rucker; four brothers, Conrad, Charlie, George and Eddie; one granddaughter, Deloris Rankin; and one great-grandson, Rodney Rankin.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Queen and Lessie Mae Rankin and husband, Monroe; three sons, B.C. Young, Eddie Young and Daniel Young and wife, Beatrice; 28 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
