NATCHEZ — With wonderful weekend weather predicted and a Mardi Gras parade on tap, the coming weekend should be a bright one.

Temperatures are expected to sit at right around 60 degrees and skies will be sunny.

Krewe of Indians parade

The Krewe of Natchez Indians will kick off the weekend and the Natchez Mardi Gras parade season at 6 p.m. Friday with their annual parade.

Floats will line up on Broadway Street, turn onto Canal Street by Rosalie, take a right on Main Street and head toward Commerce Street. The parade will turn left and finish its route coming down Franklin Street.

The theme is “Welcome to Hollywood.” Those riding on floats will throw candy, beads and other goodies to spectators lining the streets.

The Krewe of Indians took over the former Krewe of Alpheus parade two years ago, and organizer Robert McNeely says the krewe enjoys giving the community a fun show.

Downtown walking tour

The Natchez National Historical Park will have a free downtown walking tour beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday.

This week’s tour is titled, “The Great Natchez Tornado of 1840.”

The tour starts at the William Johnson House at 210 State St.

Krewe of Mer grand ball

The Krewe of Mer will celebrate its annual ball at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Convention Center.

The krewe will honor past royalty with the theme “A Royal Affair.”

The king is William Fredrick Marsalis Jr., and the queen is Courtney Danielle Frazier-Yearby.

Adams County 4-H shooting sports

The Adams County 4-H will have registration for its shooting sports program for children ages 8 to 18.

Participants will learn firearm safety and engage in shooting sports activities once classes start.

Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Range on Foster Mound Road.

Instructors will be present to answer questions and provide information about the classes.

Registration is $30.
