NATCHEZ — The Adams County Christian School boys’ soccer team did all of its scoring in the first half and then used stingy defense to hold on to beat Brookhaven Academy Monday night.
Lester Wells and Austin Walker found the back of the net in the first half to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Rebels came close to a shutout, but a handball led to a penalty kick for Brookhaven. The kick slipped past goalkeeper Zach Pinatard, but that was all Brookhaven would get, and ACCS won 2-1.
“Our defense really stepped up,” ACCS head coach Jim Allgood said. “I was really proud of defenders like Williams Ladner, and our goalie (Pintard) for only allowing one penalty kick goal to hit the net.”
The win moved ACCS to 14-4-1 on the season, Allgood said. The Rebels will face Oak Forest in a key district game Wednesday.
