NATCHEZ — Services for Lurenda Singleton, 84, of Natchez, who died Monday, June 8, 2009, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow at Winston Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Singleton was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Adams County, the daughter of Robert and Stella Sanders. She attended Adams County public schools and was employed as a domestic engineer for a number of years. She was a member of St. Mary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Singleton Sr.; one son, Willie Singleton; three brothers, Ernest Sanders, Elijah Sanders and Willie Sanders; and two sisters, Josephine Hayes and Florence Singleton.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence Singleton Jr. and wife, Rebecca, Christian Singleton and Charles Singleton and wife, Alfreda, all of Natchez; four daughters, Alice King and Florence Pickett, both of Natchez, and Dorothy King and Della Bell and husband, Bennie, all of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Curley Sanders of New Orleans; one sister, Christina Caldwell of Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Earline Singleton of Natchez; 31 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Gibbs, James Gibbs and Tri-Stone Lodge No. 137.
